The Schedule: Day 1

  • 09.00 - 10.00

    Introduction

    Introduction to systematic reviews, meta-analysis with guidance on topic selection, search strategies, and article screening. It also covers continuous and dichotomous variables, meta-analysis software, data extraction sheets, and data analysis.

  • 10.00 - 11.00

    How to write a systematic review & Meta-Analysis:

    The objectives cover the structure of a paper and what to include. Completing a qualitative review, conducting a risk of bias assessment, collaboratively citing, and reviewing the logistics of the day.

    11.00 - 11.15 Refreshment Break

  • 11.15 - 13.15

    Data Extraction & Analysis:

    The objectives encompass the completion of a comprehensive data extraction table, followed by the detailed analysis of the collected data and the creation of visually informative forest plots to illustrate findings.

    13.15 - 14:00 - Refreshment Break

    Methodological Quality Review & Amalgamating Qualitative Data

    The goals involve finalising a detailed amalgamation table that integrates key data and performing a comprehensive risk of bias assessment to evaluate the reliability and potential limitations.

    15.15 - 15.30 Refreshment Break

  • 15.30 - 17.00

    Paper writing

    The aim is to finalise the Introduction, Methods, and Results sections, providing a thorough explanation of the study's background, approach, and key findings.

    Troubleshooting Q+A

    An opportunity to review the previous day's work with a fresh perspective and seek additional guidance from course faculty who will assist in refining and enhancing the outcomes achieved.

  • 10.00 - 11.30

    Paper Writing

    Complete your paper write up and receive expert supervision building on the first day's work. Learn how to write a structured systematic review and meta-analysis mastering each different section

    11.30 - 11.45 Refreshment Break

    Final Edits

    Final paper formatting for submission to scientific journal.
